We will charge Peace Corps commandant to Court – Police
Following allegations of illegal recruitment
and operational procedures by Peace Corps of Nigeria, the Inspector-General of
Police, Ibrahim Idris, says the Corps commandant,Mr. Dickson Akoh will be charged to court.
Speaking during a three-day training programme
organized for senior police officers in Lagos, the police boss stated that the
recruitment and operational procedures of the corps did not conform to the law
establishing security agencies in Nigeria.
The IGP who stressed that the police
force will not want the corps to constitute a threat to the security of the
country added that corps commandant will be charged to court.
Speaking earlier on the significance of the 3
days police training programme themed, “Towards a More Professional and
Proficient Police Service Delivery,” he explained that it was aimed at ensuring
effective policing in the country.
