University of Jos says increment in fee charges was FG's directive.
The Management of the
University of Jos says the 67 percent increment in fee charges, from 27,000
naira to 45,000 naira, was a directive from the Federal Government.
Revealing this in a
statement, the university’s Registrar, Mr. Monday Danjem, stated that the university
received the directive to review the charges from the National Universities
Commission (NUC) in January 2015, and presented it before the Governing Council
and Senate, who both ratified it for implementation.
The Registrar who
further denied students claims that the increment in fee charges was singularly
done by the university, noted that the management consulted widely before
implementing the new charges, adding that it held three meetings with the students
union before taking a final decision.
