Madeira Airport Renamed In Honour Of Ronaldo

The renaming of the airport is a follow-up of Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Sweden in Madeira’s capital, Funchal, where Portugal had not played for 16 years.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of Ronaldo’s bust statue, which has been heavily criticized for bearing no resemblance to the Portugal captain.

Present at the renaming ceremony were Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister Antonio Costa, friends and family as well as Hundreds of locals, including school children.

Fire razes shops in Suleja, Niger State

No fewer than five shops were razed in a fire outbreak, which occurred in Suleja, Niger State. The fire which started from a shop in the old Minna garage area of the town yesterday destroyed property worth several millions of naira. Reports say sympathisers had sent distress calls to the Niger State Fire Service but that there was no response as all its fire-fighting vehicles were not serviceable. However, an eyewitness said he suspected some chemicals were being mixed in one of the shops, which might have been responsible for the explosion that occurred.
