Osibanjo gives hope
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo says the
economic hardship brought about by the recession in the country will soon be
over.
In a statement titled “WE ARE COMMITTED TO
ENGAGEMENT WITH OUR PEOPLE, and FIXING THE ECONOMY,” which was personally
signed by Professor Osinbajo, the acting president commended the Inspector
General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and his officers for handling the protests
against government policies with professionalism and respect for the rights of
citizens.
According to him, the federal government is
committed to a continuous engagement with citizens so as to create avenues
where explanations for government policies would be made as well as receive
advice and criticism on failing policies. The second citizen who stated that cabinet
ministers have gone round eight states holding town hall meetings; with the
most recent held yesterday in Ilorin, reassurred Nigerians that there will be
more meetings in the other states that are yet to be visited adding that with
complete focus on improving the economy every day, the recession will soon be a
history.
It would be recalled that several protests
for and against government policies were held in some parts of the country
yesterday.
