INEC OfficialsFace Disciplinary Actions Over Rivers Rerun Elections
The Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resolved to discipline its 25
personnel who were charged for misconduct during the Rivers state re-run
elections held on the 10th of December 2016.
Revealing this to
newsmen, the INEC National Commissioner, Solomon Soyebi, stated that internal
disciplinary measures would be taken against the indicted members of staff adding
that they would be also prosecuted by the police for their alleged role in the
re-run.
The national
commissioner who further stressed the Commission would not shield any of its
staff that engages in any conduct which undermine the integrity of the
electoral process... also expressed his gratitude to academic staffs of Michael
Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike who served in Rivers West and East
Senatorial Districts as well as corps members who served as presiding officers
