Defense Minister pledge to establish Naval War College soon in Akwa Ibom
The Minister of Defense, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, has pledged the readiness of the Federal Government to establish a naval war college in Akwa Ibom State.
While responding to a request
by the state Governor, Udom Emmanuel, during the opening ceremony of the 11th
Nigerian Navy Games at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the
minister assured that the request for a Naval war college in Akwa Ibom State
has been granted.
In his response, the governor
promised to partner the military in ensuring the maintenance of peace in the
state and thanked the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff as well
as the Chief of Army Staff for the establishment of the 2 Brigade in Uyo,
He attributed the relative
peace in the state to the synergy between the military and the state government
and commended the troops for exhibiting professionalism in combating militancy
and other forms of insurgency in the country.
Speaking of the 11th Nigerian
Navy Games, He described sports as a high revenue earner which if well
harnessed, could boost the economy of the country.
