Academic Staff Union of polytechnics embarks on one week strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics has embarked on a nationwide seven-day strike over shortfall in payment of salaries, allowances among other demands.
while speaking to newsmen, the National President of the union, Mr. Usman Dutse, who noted that the industrial action would end on the 6th of February 2017, added that the strike will affect all federal and state-owned polytechnics as well as Colleges of Technology.
Similarly, The General Secretary, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Lagos state polytechnic chapter, Mr. Uthman Olayinka, has stated that the strike began at noon as directed.

Mr. Olayinka noted the strike was total and comprehensive as all lecturers are expected suspend all academic activities until the strike period elapses.
